Shaheena Kassam, R. Psych
I am a Registered Psychologist with a deep passion for mental health and a special focus on children, youth, and their families. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to helping individuals overcome various challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, and other behavioral and social difficulties.
I am currently focusing on formal assessments, particularly Psychoeducational Assessments. These assessments play a crucial role in understanding and supporting the needs of children and youth, ensuring they receive the best possible care and interventions.
My experience spans across different settings, where I have worked closely with families, gaining valuable insights into their home and family life, social dynamics, and academic environments. This comprehensive understanding has given me a unique perspective on how mood, behaviors, and socialization can profoundly impact the overall well-being and inclusion of children, youth, and their families.

Shaheena's Background:
My educational journey has been centered on honing my skills and knowledge in this field. I completed my Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta, majoring in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology. Later, I pursued a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and earned a Diploma in Child and Youth Care from Grant MacEwan University.
In my practice, I have chosen to focus on the crucial and often underserved area of mental health for children and youth. I firmly believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic environment where young individuals can thrive and succeed. My goal is to offer flexibility and security, allowing children and youth to grow and flourish.
Throughout my career, I have worked in various roles, including as a Youth Psychologist in the Highland Primary Care Network, where I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to develop holistic therapy plans for each patient. I also served as the Head of Counselling and Special Educational Needs at the Philadelphia Private School in Dubai, managing and supporting students with learning challenges.
My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy and understanding, and I strive to create a warm and nurturing space for my clients. I am committed to helping children, youth, and their families navigate the ever-evolving challenges they face today, providing them with the tools they need to thrive and lead fulfilling lives.
